LENOIR CITY, Tenn. — The Catholic Church, especially in the South, is seeing significant growth in adults returning to the faith.
In some cases, these are younger families seeking stability in a chaotic world and, in others, seniors who are coming back to the faith of their youth as they begin to face the autumn of their lives.
Locally, St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Lenoir City will be offering a small group program for Catholics who have left the Church and may be interested in exploring a pathway back to the faith.
WHAT IT IS, WHAT IT ISN’T
Called Landings, it is an international program led by trained volunteers, many of whom have returned to the faith themselves, and has successfully welcomed more than 1.5 million Catholics back to the faith in its 30-plus years of existence.
Landings is not a Bible study or a course in theology, but rather a ministry of compassionate listening that offers a “safe place to land” in a journey back to the Church.
Because each person has their own reason for having left, whether it is something specific or just a drifting away, an important component of the program is sharing our/your individual faith journeys as well as reengaging with Catholic themes in a reflective discussion format.
The program will consist of eight evening sessions staring on January 15.
If you’re interested in learning more about Landings, please call Shawna or Warren Hunt at 865-657-3593 or email LandingsSTA@gmail.com. Pre-registration is required.
