A men’s senior softball league is scheduled to begin fall play Sept. 6 and will continue for 10 weeks at Loudon Municipal Park.

The slow-pitch, seven-inning league will consist of five teams. The league is currently looking for new players to fill anticipated team vacancies. The league is in its 13th year of play and for the first time there will be a complete redrafting of team players.

The league is open to men who are 55 and older by Dec. 31, 2016, and live in Loudon and surrounding counties. All new players will be assigned a team and are guaranteed to play.

Cost is $30 and includes field rental, volunteer umpires and a year-end pizza party. All players must sign a team waiver form from Loudon County.

Games are played at 1 p.m. Tuesdays. Team warmups and batting practice begins at noon. In addition to the Tuesday games, optional batting practices are available at 10 a.m. Thursdays.

All new players are required to attend at least one new player practice session Aug. 18, 23, 25 or 30. New players need a glove and are recommended to have softball shoes with rubber cleats.

A meeting for current and new players will be held at 11 a.m. Aug. 11 at Chota Recreation Center, 145 Awohili Drive in Tellico Village.
