Authors throughout East Tennessee, including writers from Tellico Village, Lenoir City and Loudon, were recently recognized for meeting vetting standards required for membership into the Author’s Guild of Tennessee.

The more than 30 authors who have been accepted for membership have published books in numerous genres, including mystery, romance, science fiction, humor, children’s literature, fiction, history, thrillers and poetry.

“Being vetted and accepted for membership is a validation of skills required for quality published works,” according to an AGT press release.

According to membership documents, the certificates were presented “in recognition of having met the high standards of professionalism in writing required for membership and for commitment to successfully marketing books.”

AGT was formed in spring 2013 to highlight the talents of authors in Tennessee.

The group of published authors works together to promote the books they have written and share marketing costs. AGT members sell their books through national and regional outlets, the organization’s website and at book signings and other events.

“We consider our writing to be a collaboration, a shared experience, between writer and reader that makes writing and reading more satisfying for both of us,” Sam Bledsoe, AGT vice president, said.
