Spreading the knowledge of their inner workings to the kids of the community. The Jackson Police Department began the educational sessions of its Youth Police Academy on Wednesday. In order to teach them how their local police department works to keep them safe.

Remington Brown says that it’s “cool” to be a part of the program.
“I'm really honored to be here because I know not everybody got picked to, and I'm excited to learn all the stuff the police does to keep Jackson safe," said Amiyh Graham.
Sergeant Curtis Cozart expressed how he felt about helping out with the program.
“This program is really became part of my life with the youth; it's part of my job. I really enjoy seeing the different responses and experiences these kids go through on the positive side.”
He then shared what effects he thinks this program could have on the kids as a whole.
“Well, I think that it also, it shows them, like I said before, a positive side of law enforcement. I'm sure these kids from YouTube videos to other things of that nature have a negative situation toward the police.”
Jackson Police hope that many more kids will join the program in order to both learn and grow.
