Simon, Hattie and Hannah are the featured pets of the week at Monroe County Animal Shelter.

Simon is a charming, 2-year-old, sleek, black, domestic short-haired male. He came in as a stray from county animal control in Tellico Plains.

Simon is a velvety heartbreaker. He has shiny black fur that you are just compelled to stroke. He loves to be held, cuddled and adored. He will make a fantastic addition to whatever lucky family chooses him.

Hattie is a quiet, female, brown tabby who is about 2 years old. She was brought in from Tellico Plains with a litter of young kittens. They are now grown up and most have already found adoptive homes.

Hattie is polite, sweet and a bit on the docile side. She likes to stick to the sidelines to let everyone enjoy her kittens’ shenanigans, always watching and waiting for her turn in the spotlight. She seems to like the quieter aspects of life. Hattie would make a reader, knitter or other peaceful hobbyist a wonderful and affectionate companion.

Hannah is a 1-year-old gray/silver tabby. She came to the shelter from Tellico Plains and had a lovely litter of kittens almost immediately. Hannah and her brood have been in a foster home. The kittens are getting big and soon headed to new forever homes.

Hannah is a lovely girl who loves to play and get into trouble. She will hunt balls, toys and socks. She also loves boxes, paper bags and annoying her foster’s cockatiel for fun. Hannah is a fun, sweet, silly girl who isn’t much past the kitten stage herself. Want the fun of a kitten but without the scratches and biting stages? Hannah is exactly that.

Shelter needs include laundry detergent, toys and frisbees for the dogs, cat and kitten toys. Items can be dropped off at the shelter during shelter hours. Food City in Vonore has a donation barrel by the customer service desk if you want to buy food and leave it at the store. The shelter thanks the community for its kindness and support.

Shelter hours are 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at 170 Kefauver Lane in Madisonville behind Walmart. Appointments can be scheduled for meet and greets for adoptable animals. Please contact 423-442-1015 or animal.shelter@monroetn.com to make arrangements. All adoptable pets can be seen online at www.monroecountyfriends ofanimals.org.
