The Tellico Village Property Owners’ Association Board of Directors has certified its candidates for its 2025 board.
The seven nominations who were reviewed and certified by the nominating committee include Lavonne Mitchell, Skip Willard, Bruce Gibbons, Joel Reed, Michael Lackey, Phil Brenner and Kevin Ward. The board currently consists of President Bob Brunetti, Secretary John Arguelles, Vice President Steve Schneider, Marty Inkrott, John Orr, Treasurer Mike Braddock and Ed Grollemond.
During a board meeting on Sept. 18, the election committee recommended a motion be made to accept those seven candidates on the ballot. A motion was made by Arguelles and seconded by Inkrott, and no discussion was raised.
The vote to certify the candidates who have fulfilled the application and the requirements passed unanimously. The seven candidates were certified for the two board positions.
On Nov. 3 at 12:01 a.m., the election opens on VoteNet or by paper ballot, and all ballots must be received by noon on Nov. 21. Election results will be announced on Nov. 22, and the results will be certified during a board meeting scheduled for Dec. 18.
In other business, the board appointed two people to the volunteer-run Governmental Affairs Committee, which has three openings. Margaret Carroll, Scott Black, and Susan Kirk have resigned since July 25.
Applicants Stan Lisle and Curt Jason were interviewed by the committee, which then recommended to the board that they be appointed to complete the terms of those who resigned. The vote passed unanimously.
The committee is tasked with researching the workings of governmental and quasi-governmental organizations that impact life in Tellico Village, promoting community activism and acting as an advocate for residents. It also organizes and moderates candidate forums.
POA Board President Bob Brunetti encouraged residents to consider joining a committee.
“There are also openings on all the advisory committees, so if you are looking to get involved with the community, each of the advisory committees has openings for 2025,” Brunetti said. “An application for the advisory committees can be found on the website or by coming to the POA office.”
