TELLICO VILLAGE, Tenn. — Local golf professional Sharon Lemelman reached a big-time milestone in her career.

She recently received her Quarter Century Membership … marking 25 years of work done in the name of the The Professional Golfers’ Association of America.

“I was surprised,” Lemelman said. “I started getting emails from the Tennessee and national PGA.

“I was like, ‘I didn’t realize I was 25 years in.’”

The golf professional added: “I’m honored to be a member.”

A TELLICO GOLF CELEBRITY

Lemelman is well-liked by everyone in the golfing community within Tellico Village. Kahite’s head golf professional Charles Roffers commented about this on a Facebook post for Lemelman which was put up to commemorate her accomplishment.

“Sharon is a delight to work with; her positive attitude is infectious,” said Roffers.

“She is also an exceptional player and coach — having helped countless Villagers improve their game, which leads to more enjoyment on the course!”

This passion for golf and being on the course has gifted Lemelman in a variety of ways.

HELPING PEOPLE AND A CAREER OF A LIFETIME

“It has given me a career,” Lemelman said. “I am very blessed to be on the golf course.

“I met my husband through the golf course. It is a great career for a female, and I have been very honored to be a part of it.”

She also went into what it means to give community members golf lessons. She does this at Toqua Golf Course.

“I just like helping people,” Lemelman said. “That is what I hope to accomplish.”

She also added some advice for those who may want to join the PGA and work in the field she is involved with.

“Be sure to stick it out,” Lemelman said. “It is a great career.

“You get to be outside and I get to work with great people here at Tellico [Village] with Casey [Flenniken] and the crew.

“I am very blessed to work with the wonderful members of the Village.”
