Civic organizations in Tellico Village are banding together for a concert to support local organizations dedicated to the welfare of children.
The Kiwanis, Lions and Rotary clubs will host “A Time to Serve Together Concert” 7-8:30 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Community Church at Tellico Village.
Kiwanis International leadership recently asked that the local club make extra effort to partner with other civic clubs to help children’s organizations, Dan Kuzdzal, club secretary, said.
As a result of recent changes in the economy and other factors, children’s organizations are badly in need of funding, Kuzdzal said.
Tennessee Department of Child Services recently announced it is underfunded compared to needs, and other organizations are experiencing similar situations of increased demand, he said.
All proceeds from the concert will go to organizations in Loudon and Monroe counties, Kuzdzal said.
Family Resource Centers in Lenoir City and Loudon and Monroe counties, along with Children’s Advocacy Centers in Loudon and Monroe counties, will receive funding from the event.
“One of the things we thought we could do is a concert,” Kevin Meyer, Kiwanis member, said. Meyer is also a musician with the Loudon County Concert Band and a vocalist with the Tellico Voices.
Featured artists will include Tellico Voices, Take 5, Vocal Point and Harriet Schneider and Friends performing a musical selection of contemporary and popular songs. The groups possess a great array of talent, Meyer said.
“This came together very quickly,” Randy Heiden, who is involved with Tellico Working Together, said. The group brings charitable and civic organizations together to work on projects that benefit the community.
Tickets are $10 each and available through members of all three civic clubs, Sloan’s Hardware, Village Salon and United Community Bank.
