Born with a heart defect and Down syndrome, life has often been a tough road for 5-year-old Addyson Strunk of Powell.
Thanks to Malibu Boats and the Kiwanis Club of Tellico Village, the road has become a bit easier.
The company and Loudon County service club recently raised $930 to have a special bike manufactured for Addy.
The AmTryke bike was engineered with special handles and pedals that give Addy a secure, custom fit so she can enjoy the thrill of a bike ride just like other children.
“God has blessed our family through Addy’s adventure,” Addy’s mother Kim Longmire said. “It may not be an easy road, but it’s been a beautiful journey. We are eternally grateful for all who have forever changed our hearts by loving Addy.”
Debbie Kent, Malibu Boats director of human resources, said she has enjoyed working with the local Kiwanis chapter to assist the community.
“Malibu has a long-standing relationship with the local Kiwanis chapter and that partnership is near and dear to our heart as we collectively look for opportunities to serve in our local community,” Kent said.
