Silver Tarpons show out at Senior Olympics

Four members of the Tellico Village Silver Tarpons swim team made a splash June 29-30 at the Tennessee Senior Olympics in Brentwood.

Dean Reynolds, who competed in the men’s 55-59 age group, placed first in the 50-yard breaststroke, second in the 100-yard individual medley, third in the 50-yard butterfly and fourth in the 50-yard freestyle.

John Wand, who competed in the men’s 65-69 age group, placed first in the 50-yard freestyle, second in the 100-yard freestyle, third in the 200-yard freestyle and third in the 500-yard freestyle.

Holly Seguine, who competed in the women’s 65-69 age group, placed first in the 50-yard butterfly, first in the 100-yard individual medley, second in the 50-yard backstroke, second in the 100-yard backstroke, second in the 200-yard backstroke and second in the 200-yard individual medley.

Leslie Shuman, who competed in the women’s 55-59 age group, placed first in the 50-yard freestyle, 50-yard butterfly, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle, 500-yard freestyle and 100-yard individual medley.

All four swimmers placed first in the 100-yard mixed medley relay and second in the 100-yard mixed freestyle relay.

The Silver Tarpons is a group of recreational swimmers that meet at 7 a.m. Tuesdays at the Wellness Center. Participation is free for any member of the Wellness Center. Three levels of workouts are posted each week on the Silver Tarpons Swimmers group on Nextdoor.
