The Tellico Village New Villagers Club holds a social meeting at 5 p.m. the first Thursday of the month at the Yacht Club, and new members are invited to the social if they have lived in the Village for less than two years.
The club numbers between 550-700 people who actively participate in events.
As the entire membership is new to the community and the area, the club’s goal is to provide opportunities for residents to participate in social activities designed to promote fun and friendship, as well as learn about community resources and assist members in easing the transition to life in Tellico Village.
Last year, the club held 43 events, including trips to baseball games, restaurant outings, rafting trips, raft-offs, trips to concerts, bowling outings, trivia night sessions, star gazing, murder mystery cruises and magic shows.
The club also holds dining events and other club-specific events, like golf nights and outings with the Muddy Boots hiking group.
According to officials with the club, New Villagers is on track to sponsor the same number of events in 2015.
New Villagers offers the group free clubs for golfing with minimal fees, hiking, book reading, dining, gourmet wine tasting, cooking and games.
New members should bring a calendar and checkbook to social meetings to sign up for events. A membership application and a list of events is available at http://www.telliconewvillagers.com.
The next social meeting is set for 5 p.m. Sept. 3 at the Yacht Club. The meetings typically last nearly two hours, with an optional dinner taking place afterward at the Blue Heron.
