Four Paws Food Pantry provides pet food to needy Loudon County families through the Good Samaritan Center in Lenoir City.

This past month, Food City provided a donation to Four Paws, including 576.8 pounds of dog chow and 428.6 pounds of cat chow. According to Four Paws officials, the donation reduced expenses for January and will also assist with operations in this month.

Following are dog and cat food delivery totals for January:


  • Dog chow delivered — 108, 18 1/2 pound bags totaling 1,964 pounds at a cost of $710.25.
  • Cat chow delivered — 138, 6 pound bags totaling 918.6 pounds at a cost of $331.25.
  • Total expense for the month was $1,041.50.
  • Following are totals since the organization began in 2009:
  • Bags of dog chow delivered, 6,913; pounds of dog chow delivered, 136,707; cost for dog chow, $63,128.09.
  • Bags of cat chow delivered, 5,584; pounds of cat chow delivered, 38,390; cost for cat chow, $27,701.60
  • Total cost of pet food — $91,829.69.
  • Total pounds delivered — 175,096.
  • Total bags delivered — 12,497.
