TELLICO VILLAGE, Tenn. — On Wednesday, November 5, the annual Shoppes of Christmas event at The Yacht Club of Tellico Village occurred from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The event was hosted by the Tellico Village Ladies Luncheon and Fashion Show. It featured different vendors selling items such as jewelry, clothes, food and even flavored vinegars.
In short, it is a way for the people of Tellico Village to get some Christmas shopping in early. A total of over 55 vendors were in attendance.
At The Yacht Club’s Blue Heron Restaurant, there was a special brunch menu and people could have a meal alongside all the shopping on every floor.
There were also raffle tickets being given out to those who attended with over 100 pick-a-prize items to choose from.
Ladies Luncheon and Fashion Show President Karen Sue Kieth talked about the event’s success and all of the people who attended.
“It is nice for people in the community to come out,” Kieth said. “There are things for everyone here. The money all goes to our community.”
Holiday Season Fundraising
As Kieth told The Connection, the money raised from all the vendors goes toward fundraising.
An example of this was with a vendor called “Plants for Life,” who was selling house decoration plants. Their proceeds went to Bibles and recovery literature for female inmates at the Monroe County Jail.
Kieth emphasized how big of a deal this event was for the community in general.
“This is our largest fundraiser,” Kieth stated. “The money we make will be given back to the community, such as to places like fire departments, animal rescues and good samaritans.”
