Robert Donald Swaim, 89, of Tellico Village, passed away Wednesday evening, Feb. 17, 2021, at his home.
Bob was born to the late Joseph Clyde and Lenore (Tomberlin) Swaim in Rocky Ford, Colo. Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving his country during the Korean conflict. A graduate of the University of Missouri, Bob received a degree in marketing. He went on to spend a career in sales and marketing working for and representing the Eveready Battery, a division of the Union Carbide Corporation, the Arm & Hammer company and Tennessee Donut before retiring to East Tennessee.
Bob became active in the Tellico Village community. An avid golfer and boater, he held memberships in the Tellico Cruising Club and the Breakfast Club as well as the Dudala Way 1st Sunday Group. Bob was an active member of the Community Church at Tellico Village.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Gene Edward Swaim.
He is survived by wife, the love of his life and best friend celebrating 30 years of marriage, Molly Rucker Swaim of Tellico Village; children, Kelley and wife, Michelle Swaim (who was known to Bob as “his sweetie”), Jeffrey Swaim and Timothy and Debra Swaim; the daughter of his heart, Stacy Harper; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and niece, Valerie.
A celebration of life honoring Bob Swaim will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 10, in the Community Church at Tellico Village, 130 Chota Center, Loudon. Military honors will be provided by the Loudon County Veterans Honor Guard. Bob’s remains will rest in the church columbarium.
