Jean Kray, 92, of Tellico Village, passed away Friday, July 17, 2020.

Born Dec. 29, 1927, in Cleveland, Ohio, she attended Holy Name High School and Notre Dame College. After graduation she served as a social worker for the Diocese of Cleveland before her marriage to Gene in 1951.

Gene’s career took them to eight different cities where, because she enjoyed playing cards, she formed bridge clubs, helping both she and her husband adjust to the new environment. She volunteered at various charitable organizations in each of those cities, most recently at the Good Samaritan Center of Loudon County.

After retirement, she and her husband enjoyed traveling together here and abroad, but most of all she loved annual family vacations with her seven children and 13 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Irene Coleman; and brother, James Coleman.

She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Gene; children, Claudia Pollice (Robert), Pamela Currier (Greg), James, Mary Beth Lagrou (Matt), Kathryn Johnson (Tom), Susan McDowell (Kevin) and Laura Baugh (Kevin); grandchildren, Nathan Currier, Kathryn Firestine (Kevin), Kristen Pollice, Laura Ziewacz (Doug), Erin Newton (Todd), Matthew Lagrou, Elizabeth Baugh, Gene Baugh, Julie Johnson, Michael Baugh, Tommy Johnson, Keegan McDowell, Jillian McDowell and Madalyn Baugh; and great-grandchildren, lsabella Ziewacz, Conner Newton, Lucas Ziewacz and Will Newton.

The family received friends 10-11 a.m. Friday, July 24, 2020, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Lenoir City with mass that followed at 11 a.m. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
