With great sadness, the family of Patricia Ann Janicki Corda, known as Pat, announces her passing Friday, May 21, at 85 years of age. Pat died peacefully in her home.

Pat will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 64 years, Norman; children, Suzanne, Christine, Gregory and Steven; eight grandchildren; and numerous friends and relatives.

Pat was born in 1935 into a hard-working family in Buffalo, N.Y. The daughter of a barber and a beautician, she had many happy moments spending summers at her parents’ cottage in Sunset Bay near Lake Erie. Pat went on to graduate high school from Nardin Academy in Buffalo and met her husband, Norm, shortly after.

Pat and Norm were married April 24, 1957, while Norm was serving as a lieutenant in the Army. Months after their wedding, they moved to Columbia, S.C., where Norm was stationed at Fort Jackson.

From there, they moved back to Buffalo and then on to Michigan, where Pat would spend many happy years raising four children. Pat continued to keep close ties with her family back in Buffalo and would travel back often — with her four kids in tow — to attend big family gatherings. As a wife and mother, Pat developed a love of sewing and quilting and would spend long hours at the sewing machine making bedspreads, wall hangings and even her own clothes by hand.

When Pat and Norm retired, they moved to Tellico Village in 1995 where they were active in the community — playing golf, attending church functions, volunteering at the local library and going on many cruises and vacations with friends and family to exciting destinations like Alaska, the Caribbean and Europe. While in Tellico Village, Pat was also able to share her passion for quilting by co-founding the Tellico Village Quilt Club. Pat organized events, helped other members create their own quilts and created many of her own, which she gave to her friends and family. Her life will be remembered like her quilts — a patchwork of color and warmth, interwoven with love for her friends and family.

The family will receive friends 10-11 a.m. Thursday, June 3, 2021, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Lenoir City with mass to follow at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Tennessee, 5801 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919.
