William “Bill” Bazil, 66, of Loudon, passed away Dec. 8, 2020.
Bill was born Sept. 8, 1954, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Rita Bazil and the late Joseph Bazil. He earned his Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Southern Illinois University and started his career with IBM in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., as a software development engineer. Bill moved back to the Chicago area and joined Sara Lee/HanesBrands as a senior manager of network services before HanesBrands transferred him to North Carolina as director of systems engineering.
Bill loved being outside with nature, and hiking was a favorite. Anything to do with water, whether it was swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, boating or just sitting on the beach watching his son surf and the waves rolling in at Ocean Isle Beach, N.C., made him happy.
Survivors include his loving wife of 29 years, Laurie Kaye (Silfies) Bazil; children, William Robert Bazil and Alicia (Michael) Lowe; grandchildren, Renee’, Adahleigh, Ezekial and Lucius Lowe; mother, Rita Bazil; siblings, Anne Bazil, Paul (Cyndi) Bazil, John (Lisa) Bazil, Mary (Mark) Olson and Susan (Matt) Matson; mother-in-law, Nancy Silfies; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Christine, (Byron), Dawn, Robert and (Iryna); and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Bazil; father-in-law, Robert Silfies; and brother, Mark Bazil.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Feb. 27 at First Baptist Church in Tellico Village, 205 Chota Road, Loudon. Due to COVID-19, the family requests that masks be worn and social distancing be practiced.
