Golfers dedicated to a great cause flocked May 15 to Toqua Golf Course for the 21st annual Tellico Village Lions Club Golf-for-Sight outing, which should bring in more than $16,000.

Golfers competed in various categories for team winners and individual prizes. The winning foursomes were Gary Stuart, Chuck Lammi, Greg Holton and Phil Weis in men; George and Sue Biliskov and Kelly and Bruce Cox in mixed; and Cindy Schuler, Jena Feil, Ann Lewellen and Lisa Batton in women.

Individuals also competed in closest to the pin, longest drive and accurate driver. Winners were Sid Sherwood and Margaret Sonntag for closest to the pin, Brian Wisner and Carla Johnson for longest drive and Dick McKinsey and Margaret Sonntag for accurate drive.

Funds are raised by sponsor contributions, participant fees and the cost of various aids available to improve scores. Area businesses could show support by purchasing sponsorships. This year’s corporate sponsors were Santek Waste Services, Drs. Harold Cates and Conrad Ivie at Tennessee Orthopaedics, Gary Stuart at Edward Jones and Cook’s Pest Control. Donors at the $500 level included Admiral Title, Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church, Citizens Insurance Solutions, Cooks Bros. Construction LLC, Jeff and Linda Svoboda, Lakeside Real Estate Group, Lawncare of East Tennessee, Loan Depot, Otis Termite and Pest Control, Premier Residences at Tellico Village, Zimmerman Wealth Management LLC and Town Creek Family Dentistry.
