PEO scales down fundraiserLike most volunteer organizations, the Tellico Village Chapter AX of the Philanthropic Educational Organization Sisterhood is struggling with fundraising during the COVID-19 environment.

For the past seven years, members have produced and sold holiday mailbox arrangements. The effort involves teams gathering greens and berries and then working in assembly-line fashion in a member’s garage to create the fresh mailbox decorations. The production team has determined that creating these arrangements in 2020 is a potential health risk to members.

To balance the need for chapter funds and meet the demand for arrangements, all while adhering to COVID-19 guidelines, only customers from 2019 were solicited through email. The number of arrangements was reduced to 40% of last year’s production. The group intends to return to full production in 2021.

Project funds support educational opportunities for women through loans, scholarships and grants. For more info about PEO, visit www.peointernational.org.
