Loudon Housing Authority will hold its regular board meeting at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 20, at 124 Pathkiller Trail, Loudon.
Memorial Day service
A Memorial Day service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday in front of the Loudon County Courthouse in Loudon.
Bobby Watts, American Legion Post 120 commander, said this year’s service will be different, including no Loudon County Veterans Honor Guard or Color Guard, Loudon High School Band or Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps.
Watts and “maybe” another person will serve as speaker.
“I’ve made the decision to continue our honor to the millions that have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom,” Watts said. “The adversity they faced doesn’t compare to the challenge we are facing.
“We will still have the street blocked off and have ample space for anyone that would like to honor our fallen,” he added. “This year will be myself and a couple officers from American Legion Post 120 performing a wreath ceremony. ... The public is welcome at their own risk. ... This isn’t a public event but we will still honor our veterans.”
The Tellico Village Property Owners Association Board of Directors canceled its May 20 meeting.
