William “Bud” Ferguson, 74, of Tellico Village, passed away Sept. 23, 2019.
Bud was born in Batesville, Ark. After earning his MBA at the University of Arkansas, he worked at the Postal Rate Commission in Washington, D.C., until his retirement in 2001. He and Mary loved to travel. They took many cruises in Europe during the last 15 years. Bud loved to read, especially current events and historical novels. He spent hours reading on his iPad. He loved his dogs and had rescued many golden retrievers. Walking a dog was his usual morning activity.
Bud was most proud of his time at the Good Neighbors Shoppe. He served as manager, board member and treasurer. He felt very strongly about the mission of the shop — giving to people and agencies in Loudon County to support those in need. He worked tirelessly at the shop and at home as the treasurer. He was loved and will be missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Dora Le Ferguson.
Survivors includes his wife of 45 years, Mary; daughter and husband, Samantha and Jimmy Langley; grandchildren, Katie Brown and her husband, Robert, and Kent King; great-grandchildren, Laikyn and Charlotte Brown; sister, Gail Harley; and golden retrievers, Rocky and Heather.
The family received friends 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, 2019, in the narthex at the Community Church at Tellico Village.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Good Neighbors Shoppe.
